Architecture and structure in perfect balance

Our recent collaboration with architect Nynke-Rixt Jukema led to the successful transformation of the Aanjaagstation in Goutum. This historic pumping station, part of the landscape near Leeuwarden since 1928, had stood empty for years. Driven by a passion for preserving cultural heritage and an eye for innovative architecture, we delivered the structural engineering for this project.

The Aanjaagstation was both a challenge and an opportunity. The challenge lay in preserving the existing structure while introducing modern elements that would make it suitable for a contemporary office environment.

Working with Nynke-Rixt Jukema was an essential part of this success story. Her innovative design vision and creativity transformed the Aanjaagstation into a unique workplace while retaining its historic character. Together, we found the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality.

This project reflects our commitment to reusing existing buildings and preserving cultural heritage. It is an inspiring example of how collaboration between architecture and structural engineering can lead to a remarkable new purpose.
